Legendary Mustang Performance
The current Mustang powertrain options start with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with twin turbocharging. The 5.0-liter Coyote™ V8 engine features the Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) technology developed by Ford for its racing teams. The Dark Horse models derive power from a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine with a special intake manifold and racing calibration for supercar performance.
As for driveline options, the EcoBoost family comes with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The two 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 models have an optional six-speed TREMEC manual gearbox in addition to the SelectShift transmission. Maximum performance is available with the Mustang Dark Horse model, which can generate 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque.
Iconic and Classic Mustang Styling
In previous Mustang generations, the designers went full retro with the exterior design, but the current car provides a more balanced blend of classic styling with modern looks. The front end and overall profile let you know this car is a Mustang; you can see it in the long raised hood, short rear deck, stacked tail lights, prominent fenders, and the fastback roofline. As usual, the convertible Mustang models, which are currently available for the EcoBoost and GT families, are some of the best-looking in the lineup. The GT California Special appearance package is only available for convertibles.
Interior Design
When you get behind the steering wheel of the new Ford Mustang, you will feel greeted by a driver-focused cockpit designed with racing ergonomics in mind. The dashboard, side panels, and center console arrive covered in durable soft-touch materials, and the comfortable seats feature contrast stitching. You can upgrade the upholstery to fine leather in some models, and you can also add ambient lighting.
Technology and Smart Safety Features
The Ford SYNC® 4 infotainment system of the new Mustang is controllable through a 12.4-inch touchscreen. You can upgrade the factory six-speaker stereo with a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with a subwoofer and noise cancellation technology.
In terms of advanced safety, the Ford Co-Pilot360™ offers driver-assist functionality with blind zone alerts, automatic braking in emergencies, lane departure monitoring, and cross-traffic notifications.
